A cooperative garden

This means that we work as a team to both plan and plant the entire garden. There are no owned plots.

For you!

Everyone is invited to hang out, play, smell the flowers, and take fresh vegetables and herbs home. That means you!

Run by your community

We are your neighbors, friends, and a little bit obsessed with vegetables.

Adopt a bed

Help us care for the garden by adopting a bed (or two)!

We have no owned plots at the garden, which means it is sometimes hard to maintain our space. We would love your help in keeping this a welcoming and accessible place for anyone to come and get fresh food.

For as a little as 30 minutes a week, you can help!

The garden coordinators can help you choose the right bed for you.

How we did this

In partnership with the Old Highland neighborhood association, guidance from Project Sweetie Pie, and sponsorship from the Rotary Club of Minneapolis, 2 neighbors saw what were 3 open city lots and imagined something greener together.

In the year 2016, neighbors Jae Wencl and Angelina McDowell began to turn this land into a shared community space for all. Since then, we have worked with many more neighbors, several more partners, and gained a grant that has allowed us to help the garden flourish.

We lease this land from the city for the low price of $1/year/city plot.

Since we have 3 lots, it costs us just $3/year!
